FULLBACK MIKEY DANIEL SIGNS WITH THE CAROLINA PANTHERS AFTER PARTICIPATING IN CAMP PRESENTED BY HUB FOOTBALL
Mikey Daniel, a fullback out of South Dakota State, became the second player from the most recent CAMP presented by HUB Football to sign a contract with an NFL team when he inked a deal with the Carolina Panthers on Tuesday.
“God blessed me with another opportunity to chase this dream,” Daniel told HUBFootball.com. “I’m ecstatic to join this team and hopefully play a big part in us winning a lot of games,”
Daniel, 6-2, 235 pounds, joins running back Darius Clark, who actually agreed to a contract with the Panthers during the March 14 CAMP at Maranatha Christian School in San Diego.
A native of Brookings, South Dakota, Daniel played four seasons (2016-19) at South Dakota State where he rushed for 1,728 yards and 29 touchdowns on 364 carries (4.7 ypc). The converted fullback signed with the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent in 2020 but was waived prior to the start of the season and had been out of the NFL since. He attended CAMP in March looking for an opportunity to impress NFL teams.
“HUB Football’s CAMP gave me a chance to showcase that I have what it takes to play at the highest level,” said Daniel of the event HUB Football hosted in San Diego. “Being able to work out for scouts and meet with them afterward was a major reason I was able to achieve my goal of getting back into the NFL. I’m forever grateful to the guys at HUB Football for the opportunity.”
To-date, 189 individual players have come thru CAMP presented by HUB Football and 47, an impressive 25 percent, have signed contracts with pro teams, including the NFL. The next CAMP is scheduled for this Sunday in San Diego and is sure to lead to even more signings in the coming weeks and months.
